Now that many of us have so much free time on our hands, we have the time to enjoy a day full of movies or show binging. This is a good time to be a Netflix subscribers because we have some great recommendations you might enjoy. There is a little something for everyone to enjoy ranging from genres like horror and thriller to romance and comedy.
First, we are going to start off with our Anime lovers who are looking to watch some adventure and actions shows. Some very popular and great story line shows you might consider watching are first and for-most my personal favorite “Hunter x Hunter “. If you love a great plot and character development this would be a perfect Anime show for you. This show will dive deep into the main characters and really make you feel connected with them. You will find yourself in a position where you never want the protagonist to lose.
Some more great shows in the Anime genre would be “One Punch Man”, “Bleach”, “Attack on Titan”, and of course lastly a classic, “Naruto”. If you are a person that can’t enough with just one episode, then these shows will have you binge watching all day long. As an Anime fanatic I couldn’t help myself but binge my way through all of these shows, even when I knew I didn’t have time or should have been doing something else.
Next, moving forward into to our romance, comedy, and drama consist of a variety of shows that are worth a watch. If you are someone who is all about the drama with a comedic twist to it then a show like “Shameless” will have you full of laughter and anxiety from the events that occur. When watching this show you must prepare yourself for the handful this family is going to be. The craziness that occurs in this show will have you appreciating how good you have it at home. Some other great shows that are similar but not nearly as crazy would be shows like “New Girl” and “Sex Education”.
Looking for something that will make you laugh and not have to deal with the dramatic stress a show may bring to you then we also got you covered. Shows like “That 70’s Show”, “The Office”, and “One Day at a Time” are some shows you might consider watching. What is great about these shows is that you are able to enjoy them casually, and do not have to be so invested into every specific scene that occurs. You may also enjoy watching these shows as a family or friends because they may be more relatable to your personal life.
This section is usually the more popular genre so I will dive deeper into these shows since they also seem to be some the most popular on Netflix. Moving forward if you are someone that enjoys watching the huge stunts, the bullets flying, and blood splattering then we got just the right shows. First, we have “Money Heist” or also known as “La Casa De Papel” which happens to be a show originally in Spanish but may be watched in English. The show has to do with “the mastermind criminal who criminal mastermind who goes by “The Professor” has a plan to pull off the biggest heist in recorded history to print billions of euros in the Royal Mint of Spain. To help him carry out the ambitious plan, he recruits eight people with certain abilities and who have nothing to lose. The group of thieves take hostages to aid in their negotiations with the authorities, who strategize to come up with a way to capture The Professor. As more time elapses, the robbers prepare for a showdown with the police.” Netflix have just released season three of the show and you won’t believe what the crew is doing now.
Another, great show that not only demonstrates a great storyline, but portrays historical events that occurred throughout the late 1900s. If you are someone who is already familiar with “Narcos” which came out back in 2015, and witnessed the creation and downfall of Pablo Escobar then “Narcos Mexico” is going to teach you some valuable history. The popular show is now currently on season two, and the killings and vendettas that Mexico witnessed by the most powerful drug kingpins only get worse. Be warned this show is very graphic and gory but it was the only way to portray truth image of these drug kingpins. We also witness the effect and impact the U.S had in this war against drugs.
If you love a good story and action but not too much blood then “OZARK” would be a show more recommended. The main characters are also dealing with the Mexican cartels, but this is more of a fictional story but still a great one. Prepare yourself for a story full of twist, and if you start think you got it all figured out then you might want to think again because nothing is ever certain in this show. Although season three just came out, I will be patiently waiting for season four to come out because I need more of it, you can’t get enough.
We did not forget about our documentary lovers as well. Some of the best documentaries of the year are now up available to watch one Netflix. Starting off on a more serious and tragic life story of Gabriel Fernandez and how he was murdered by his own mother and her boyfriend. “The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez” guides you through Gabriel’s rough life that lead to his death. In the documentary not only does it show the how his parents murdered him while only being 8 years, but how the social workers could have possibly prevented his death. The documentary really dives deep into the political side of things, and makes you wonder how the system failed Gabriel but makes you questioned if they have failed many more young kids.
Two other documentaries are not so cruel and sad would be my favorite documentaries that Netflix has ever released in my opinion. The docuseries “Tiger King” just recently released is based on Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage or famously known as “Joe Exotic”. The series guides us through the creation of Joe Exotic and how he came to be famously known for owning the worlds most exotic animals and specifically tigers.
This next documentary has not only been presented in the most unique way but it portrays two Chicano men who have influenced the world. This documentary is called “LA Originals” and trust me when I say this, you will not be disappointed and personally I would love to see a whole season worth of it. The story documents photographer Estevan Oriol and artist Mister Cartoon. With their art they were able to travel the world and make connections with some of hip-hops most famous celebrities. The documentary was directed by Estevan himself so you can see how authentic and creative he really is. I enjoyed seeing parts of the film that I have personally seen and witness in those specific areas of LA.
I hope everyone is staying corona free and taking the right precautions because it seems to be getting worse day by day. Stay inside and enjoy all these great shows and movies provided. Stay positive we will get through together. Also, if you are unaware you can now download an extension through google chrome that allows you to have a “Netflix party” where anyone could join. All your friends who you might miss and want to hangout virtually then you might want to check that out.
