A senior student at Cal State Fullerton, Annette Munoz, decided to quit her job to be a full-time caretaker and advocate of her son, who is diagnosed with autism at the age two-and-a-half. As her son grew up and attended school full-time, she found herself not having any motivation to do anything. Instead of looking for a new job that fits into her son’s schedule, she took her daughters advice to go back to school. Her journey as a non-traditional student wasn’t easy, but the AWARE program (Adults Who Are Returning to Education) made her transition better.
